News - 10 June 2011 - WA government to restore heritage building [news]
The WA Government recently announced it would be restoring the former Hale School building in West Perth. The restored building will then be used to house the Cabinet office and the Premier.
The restoration will cost 10 times the estimated cost of restoring the Cliffe.

News - 28 May 2011 - Peppermint Grove Heritage Demolition stopped [news]
The Shire of Pepermint Grove has recently had their decision to refuse a demolition permit for a house on The Esplanade upheld by the State Administraive Tribunal.
The Shire President said,
“We wanted to test the validity of our municipal inventory. Our decision has been justified.”

The West Australian reported Heritage Minister John Castrilli described the process ofg 'demolition by neglect' as worrying.
Castrilli has ordered a review of the Heritage Act, and that review is accepting submissions from the public.

The 14th September was the last date that the owner could lawfully demolish the Cliffe with the existing planning approval.
Today The Cliffe can't be demolished.
A new application for planning approval has been lodged and consideration of that application is on the agenda for the Shire of Peppermint Grove's next Council meeting on 28th Septemnber.
